DAK Grooming – Terms of Service 🐾

By booking an appointment with DAK Grooming, you agree to the Terms of Service below.

We operate on scheduled grooming time rather than volume. Each appointment is reserved exclusively for your dog.

Booking & Deposits

All appointments booked through our online scheduling system require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking.

The deposit is taken automatically via our secure online payment system and confirms your appointment. Appointments are not secured without payment of the required deposit.

Your deposit will be deducted from the final invoice. The remaining balance is due upon collection.

Dogs will not be released until full payment has been received.

We will always inform you of any material price changes before proceeding with the groom.

Cancellations & Missed Appointments

We understand that plans can change.

  • Cancellations with at least 48 hours’ notice may transfer the deposit once to a new appointment.

  • Late cancellations, missed appointments, or declined rescheduling will result in forfeiture of the deposit.

  • Clients who cancel or miss two appointments within a six-month period may be required to prepay 100% of future bookings.

Late collection is charged at £10 per hour.

If a dog is not collected within 48 hours and we cannot make contact, the dog may be considered abandoned and transferred to appropriate animal welfare authorities. All associated costs remain the owner’s responsibility.

Dogs will only be released to authorised individuals.

Health & Welfare Requirements

Your dog must be in good health and up to date with vaccinations or have valid titre testing.

You must inform us prior to grooming of:

  • Medical conditions

  • Medications

  • Injuries

  • Anxiety or behavioural concerns

  • Any history of aggression

Dogs aged 8 years or older, or those with known medical conditions, are groomed at the owner’s risk due to the physical nature of grooming.

Emergency Veterinary Care

If your dog becomes ill or injured while in our care and we are unable to contact you, you authorise us to seek emergency veterinary treatment.

We may approve emergency treatment up to £500 without further authorisation. All veterinary costs remain the owner’s responsibility.

You must provide at least one reachable emergency contact.

Behaviour & Safety

For the safety of our staff and other animals:

  • Any bite history, aggression, or severe anxiety must be disclosed.

  • We reserve the right to refuse or stop grooming if a dog poses a safety risk.

  • If grooming must be terminated for safety reasons, time spent will still be chargeable.

  • We do not sedate dogs under any circumstances.

  • Additional handling fees may apply for dogs requiring extra support.

Matting & Coat Condition

Matted coats can cause pain, skin irritation, and potential health risks.

Severe matting or pelting is a preventable welfare condition caused by insufficient coat maintenance. Where humane clipping is required, the resulting appearance is not considered a grooming fault.

If matting is present, the safest option may require clipping the coat significantly shorter than requested.

Risks may include temporary skin irritation, minor nicks, abrasions, or the revelation of pre-existing skin conditions.

Additional charges apply for heavily matted coats due to increased time and equipment wear.

We may photograph coat condition for record-keeping and dispute resolution purposes.

Fleas & Parasites

If fleas or parasites are discovered during the appointment:

  • Grooming may be paused until treatment has been completed, or

  • A sanitisation fee may be applied to protect other animals.

Undisclosed infestations may result in additional cleaning charges.

Satisfaction & Concerns

We aim to achieve your preferred grooming style wherever possible. However, final results depend on coat condition, temperament, and welfare considerations.

If you have any concerns, please notify us within 24 hours of collection so we can address the issue promptly.

Photography

We may take photographs for documentation purposes.

Separate permission will always be requested before any images are used for marketing or promotional purposes.

Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR for appointment management, welfare records, legal obligations, and business operations.

We do not sell client data and only share information when legally required or in veterinary emergencies.

Legal

We provide services using reasonable skill and care.

We are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing conditions

  • Stress-related reactions following grooming

  • Coat changes resulting from matting or prior grooming

  • Health events in senior or medically vulnerable dogs unless caused by negligence

  • Issues resulting from undisclosed conditions
